The Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater hosted the state awards and honors on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. The event started with welcoming speeches by the first persons of Odesa region. State, regional and city awards were presented for significant contributions to the socio-economic, cultural and educational development of the region, and significant achievements in professional activity.

“Independence is the ability to assert one's point of view in any situation. Independence is a vision of the world through the lens of one's own worldview. Independence is freedom of opinion and thought. Independence is a critical mind and a particular insight. Independence is an absolute belief in oneself. The freedom of our native people and the independence of our state are of the highest value. No aggressor can overcome a people if he is the only one. Remember the famous saying "My house is my fortress". Remember, Ukraine is our home, and nowhere is it more comfortable and comfortable. It is important to be able to appreciate and safeguard Freedom and Independence, European values, and to understand that Ukraine's chance of success in the future cannot be lost. We have a great responsibility because the main carrier of Independence is the Ukrainian people, ”said Svitlana Shatalova, Acting Head of the Regional State Administration.

It should be noted that during the ceremony Svetlana Shatalova presented awards from the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Odessa Regional State Administration. Each of the winners made a personal contribution to the development of the state and the region.
