Today, with the participation of the deputy head of the regional state administration Vitaliy Svichynsky, a commemorative meeting was held at the Cathedral Square, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the tragedy - the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people.

"There are crimes against humanity that forever fit not only in Ukrainian history, but also in the world. The deportation of the Crimean Tatar people is the largest and most terrible crime of the totalitarian communist regime of the Soviet Union. Now the Russian occupation authorities are once again pushing Crimean Tatars out of their territory, forcing them to leave their homes. We hope and will do our best to ensure that Crimean Tatars' right to live freely on their native land has been restored. Because the pain of the Crimean Tatars is the pain of all Ukrainians, and Crimea is Ukraine, "said Vitaliy Svichinsky.

Recall that in May 1944, the Stalinist regime prepared and carried out a special operation of forced eviction of the indigenous people of the Crimea - the Crimean Tatars - by the NKVD-NKDB forces.

Also, the participants of the event were shown a film "Hytarm" - the first Crimean Tatar full-length feature film directed by and executive of the role of Akhtem Seitablayev.

It should be noted that today's date is marked in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated May 16, 2014, No. 722/4, and the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated November 12, 2015, No. 792-VIII.

The event was held jointly by the Crimean Tatar activists and the Odessa Regional State Administration.
