Council for Regional Development: discussed the economic potential of the city in Southern

The Regional Development Council has begun its work in Southern. Her participants heard a report from the mayor and outlined the priorities for the next three years. Among them, the development of industrial and transport infrastructure, tourism and international relations. Deputy Chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Svetlana Shatalova joined the discussion.

"In recent years, there have been positive changes in the South. And now we are constructively discussing the most urgent and problematic issues. It is important that the city pays great attention to education and is concerned that the smallest inhabitants have comfortable conditions and access to the latest information technologies. Also, the city has ambitious plans - to repair all local roads within the next two years ", - said the deputy chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Svetlana Shatalova.

She reminded that the construction and repair of roads is one of the key priorities set by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the strategic plan of action of the region's leader Maxim Stepanov.

It was also emphasized that "Yuzhny" occupies a leading position in the country of cargo turnover among seaports. This year, measures are being implemented to improve reloading equipment, increase the reliability of electrical supply facilities. According to the results of 2018, in the total volume of industrial goods sold in the city, the largest share belongs to Odessa port plant - 13% and Delta Wilmar CIS - 86%.

In addition, Yuzhne is among the first three cities in the Odessa region to develop capital investment per capita (UAH 4,523). Mayor Volodymyr Novatsky spoke about opportunities for further socio-economic and tourism potential.

"The city is positioning itself as an industrial transport hub attracting investment. With such a natural resource as the Black Sea coast, the tourism industry can become one of the promising directions of the city's development. For example, in the season-2018 Yuzhne visited about 80 thousand tourists ", - said Volodymyr Novatsky.

Recall that President Petro Poroshenko instructed regional leaders to develop plans for the prospective development of territories for 2019-2021, to discuss and adopt them at the community level. The result of the joint work will be an updated plan for the development of the entire region for the next three years.
