The Odesa Regional State Administration discussed progress on the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU

Chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Stepanov met with senior expert of the Analytical Center for European Political Studies Michael Emerson. During the conversation, they discussed progress in implementing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU at the regional level, as well as the development of trade between the Odessa region and European countries.

"Our relationship with the EU has deepened and picked up in recent years. In particular, over 9 months, the export of goods from the Odessa region to the EU countries has reached 286 million dollars, which is 23% of the total volume. At the same time, we are aware that, with the enormous prospects of opening an agreement on the Free Trade Area with the EU, and access to its markets, we have a fair responsibility for reforming all sectors of the regional economy and implementing European integration mechanisms, "Maxim Stepanov said.

He recalled that the region is now working on the opening of the Export Promotion Center in order to provide small and medium-sized businesses with advice and support in the search for new markets in the EU.

In turn, Michael Emerson noted that the Analytical Center for European Political Studies is analyzing how Ukraine is moving forward in reforming various sectors and developing civil society. But he stressed that there are several challenges facing the European Union, namely, the UK's exit with the EU (Brexit), the entry of the Western Balkans, Ukrainian integration processes and others.

Recall the chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Stepanov announced the opening of the "Export Support Center" in the region. The goal of the project is to provide advice and in practice to help businesses export their products. Already, its experts are invited to cooperate with manufacturers of the Odessa region, who have a desire to export their goods abroad.

Odessa region became one of the three winners of the "Battle of the Cities" competition and joined the Export Controls Export Revolution Ukraine and Creative Export Ukraine at the level of START and PRO from the Government of Estonia. 74 oblast companies joined the project. This is an opportunity for our entrepreneurs and exporters to get practical recommendations from leading European experts.
