In the Odessa region, the coverage of measles is increasing

In the Odessa region, the level of coverage of children by measles is increasing. In the 10 months of the disease, 76% of the small inhabitants of the region were revaccinated. This was reported by Director of the Department of Health of Odessa Regional State Administration Olena Teryaeva.

"Currently, the epidemiology of measles morbidity in the Odessa region is stable. We observe a slight decrease in the number of patients. In the past week, 17 people in the region have been diagnosed with it. Compared to last week, this is less than 8 cases. The most vulnerable are children from 1 to 4 years of age and adults. I emphasize that the available vaccine is safe and effective. I once again call on parents to pinch their children away from the bark. The vaccine must pass the child twice - in a year and in six years ", - stressed Olena Teryaeva.

She also added that more than 60% of children under the age of 1 have been vaccinated in the Odessa region. This indicator should increase. It should be noted that from the beginning of 2018 the diagnosis of measles was confirmed in more than 2 thousand patients in the Odessa region. As previously reported, in 2017 in the region of measles patients, 93.8% of the patients were not vaccinated against this disease.
