In Odessa oblast, centers for helping victims of violence and trafficking will be established
In Odesa oblast, three centers of assistance to victims of violence and trafficking in human beings are planned - in the east, south and center of the region. This became known during the round table discussion on the implementation of the national mechanism of interaction of counteraction trafficking entities in the Odesa region.
"In our region since 2012, 43 people have received the status of victims of trafficking in human beings. Odessa Regional State Administration, in cooperation with international organizations, is taking measures to raise awareness of the population, as well as conducting an active information campaign to prevent slavery. Of course, people who have suffered from violence and trafficking must pay the utmost attention - they need to provide timely psychological, legal and social assistance, in particular. At the moment, it is planned to create three centers in Odessa oblast, in which such people will be able to receive support. They will be located in Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky and Ivanovo districts, as well as near the city of Odessa ", - said the deputy chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Vitaliy Svichynsky.
The Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Natalia Fedorovich, representatives of the International Organization for Migration, the structural divisions of the RSA, GU of the National Police in the Odessa region and civil society took part in the thematic round table. The participants discussed the activities of executive authorities at the regional and local levels in countering trafficking in human beings, as well as interaction with international and community organizations on the way to solving problem issues. As a result, Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Natalia Fedorovich stressed that more informational and educational measures should be held in the districts and OTGs of the Odessa region.
It should be noted that the Odessa region joined the World Action "16 Days Without Violence". From the 25th of November till the 10th of December in the region there are thematic events.
Recall that in Odesa Oblast, the OSA Coordination Council on Family, Gender Policy, Prevention of Domestic Violence and Trafficking in Persons, which was set up in December 2017 by order of the head of the region, Maxim Stepanov, is working.
