Eight families of the Odessa region started their education at patronage teachers. Preparation of candidates will be 12 training sessions, which consist of theory, practice and independent work. This was announced by deputy chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Vitaliy Svichinsky.

"Finally, we move from a system of residential institutions where the children were not able to get enough family heat to the European education system. It's nice that among us there are people who have decided on such a serious step - to become patronizing educator. This is very important - to give your warmth to the children who were in difficult life circumstances ", - stressed Vitaliy Svichinsky.

He stressed that Odesa Oblast became one of 17 regions of Ukraine, in which the training of candidates for patronage educators began. A preparatory course on the basis of the Odessa Regional Center for Social Services for Children, Family and Youth will last 6 weeks. The classes are conducted by two national trainers and a certified trainer of the international charity organization "Partnership for Every Child."

Recall that in the Odessa regional state administration, a regional plan for reforming the system of boarding schools is being developed. Among them, in particular, the introduction of patronage. This is a complex service that provides for the temporary care, education and rehabilitation of a child in the family of a patron teacher during the period of overcoming the child, her parents or other legal representatives of difficult life circumstances.

Since the beginning of the year, 152 children have been adopted in Odessa oblast. As of October 1, more than 4.5 thousand orphans and children deprived of parental care are brought up in conditions that are as close as possible to family ones.

Earlier, the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov stated that the provision of housing for orphans and children deprived of parental care is a priority of its activities. Thus, last year in the region 190 children-orphans and children deprived of parental care were provided with housing through financing from local budgets and state subsidies. This is the highest figure among the regions of Ukraine over the past year.
