More than 2,000 troops from 19 countries will participate in Ukrainian-American exercises "Sea Breeze 2018". They will be conducted from 9 to 21 July in the territory of Odessa and Mykolaiv regions, as well as in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. The leaders of the exercises from the American and Ukrainian sides took part in the opening ceremony of the "Sea Breeze 2018". In particular, the deputy chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Serhii Koleboshin addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.

"Every year, the Sea Breeze training is becoming ever more powerful. The number of participating countries has increased to 19. For the Odessa region, in particular, this is a big responsibility, because it is here that the main base of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is concentrated. I congratulate everyone on the start of the exercises! I wish interesting and fruitful cooperation to all the participants ", - said the deputy chairman of the Odessa regional administration Serhii Koleboshin.

The main training elements and tasks of the Sea Breeze 2018 will include anti-ship and air defense, landing of naval landings on the unrestrained coast, riding operations, and tactical maneuvering. The exercises will involve about 30 ships, boats and ships, one submarine and 25 planes.

"We have been training for more than 20 years. During this time, our relations with the participating countries have become very strong. Training is important in terms of strengthening cooperation and maintaining peace in the region. At the same time, they give us the opportunity to work out our coordinated response to any threat in the region, "said Matthew Lyman, Captain of 1st rank, from the United States.

It should be noted that the management of the forces of the sea, air and ground components will be carried out directly from the side of the US Navy's Naval Staff Navy Mount Whitney, which became a feature of this year's Ukrainian-American exercises.
