United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) spokeswoman Chrisie Gayle visited Odesa. Together with the Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Vitalii Svichynskyi discussed the issues of alternative forms of family care for children.

UNICEF is currently evaluating alternative childcare in Ukraine, particularly in family-type orphanages. The purpose of the project is to analyze new forms of family education. They also considered strengthening controls on the removal of children from families.

Further developments will form the basis for the recommendations of the Government of Ukraine.

“Following Ukraine's ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ensuring the rights of children is a priority in our region. 2020 is declared the Year of the Child and the Family in the Odesa region. Today, our priority is to develop a system of protecting children's rights in communities and updating family forms of education. We are also reforming the institutional care system for children in the region and involving the public in participating in the protection of children's rights in the Odesa region, ”Vitalii Svichynskyi said.

We will remind, on February 3, 2019 the working visit of the Minister of social policy Yuliia Sokolovska to the Odesa region took place. She paid special attention to the institutions where the children were raised.
