Teachers of the Odessa region teach the basics of the Ukrainian sign language

In the Odessa region, an educational course "Fundamentals of the Ukrainian Sign Language" was introduced for teachers. Seminars-trainings are held on the basis of continuing education courses of teachers of the Odessa Academy of Continuing Education. This was reported by the director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa Regional State Administration Oleksandr Lonchak.

"Educational seminars are aimed at mastering sign language, as a means of communicating with people with hearing impairments. This skill will enable teachers to bring children with special educational needs to study so that they feel more confident in society. Odessa Oblast was the first to introduce such trainings for teachers. Our priority is to cover inclusive education as much as possible in the regions of the region, "Alexander Lonchak said.

The teachers of the educational course are experienced specialists of special educational institutions for hearing impaired children. Upon completion of the training, teachers will have the elements of the dactyl - the alphabet - and they will know the basic terms and gestures for everyday communication.

It should be noted that the educational course "Fundamentals of the Ukrainian Sign Language" was introduced at the initiative of the chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Stepanov.

Recall that the development of inclusive education - one of the key priorities of the Strategic Action Plan of the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov "Intelligent Region". In particular, at the end of December, inclusive and resource centers were opened in Podolsky, Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky and Savransky districts. The work of institutions is aimed at integrating children with special educational needs into the educational process.
