Odessa region will become a member of the European Union platform called Smart-Specialization. This will increase investment in the regional economy and develop its competitive advantages. This was reported in the Department of Investments, International and Interregional Cooperation of the Odessa Regional State Administration.
"This is another step towards the effective development of the region's economy and attracting investment. Odessa Oblast became one of the three in Ukraine, which was chosen to participate in the Smart-Specialization platform. It is supposed to provide information, expert and financial support using the resources of European structural and investment funds ", - said Svetlana Shatalova, deputy chairman of the Odessa regional state administration.
It should be noted that the participants of the "Smart-Specialization" platform have selected only three regions: Odesa, Kharkiv and Zaporozhye. For pilot regions, up to 200,000 euros of initial financial support from the European Regional Development Fund (EDRF) for external experts is provided. Assistance is also planned from the European Observatory of Clusters and Industrial Change.
The pilot regions will receive individual support from the European Union for the rapid elimination of investment barriers and the introduction of innovations. In addition, it is about automation of production, transition to alternative types of energy - depending on the Smart-specialization of a specific region. The total budget for the development of regional strategies is € 1 million from the ERDF. Regions can also get up to EUR 300,000 to support their strategies in 2019.
Recall that economic development is one of the key priorities of the Strategic Action Plan of the Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Stepanov "Intelligent Region" for 2017-2019.
