Odessa region entered the top 3 by the sum of the paid tourist tax in 2018

Odesa region has taken the third place in Ukraine for the proceeds from the payment of tourist fees according to 2018. Thus, local budgets were filled by 11.5 million hryvnia, which is almost 26% more than in 2017. This was reported by the head of the department of tourism, recreation and resorts of the Odessa regional state administration Alexander Sheka.

"An indicator of the dynamic development of the tourism industry is the volume of tourist fees. In 2017, the amount of revenues in the region amounted to UAH 8.9 million. In terms of indicators, the Odessa region is ahead of Lviv and the city of Kyiv. This year we count on 6.7 million tourists. After all, it's up to us to come not only to the holiday resort. We are constantly working on creating new tourist routes, looking for interesting locations, developing gastronomic tourism and planning various festivals ", - said Alexander Sheka.

In addition, according to UkSATSE, Odessa Airport entered the top 3 by the number of takeoffs and landings performed by Ukrainian and foreign airlines in 2018. The number of flights was 15 979, which is 11.5% higher than in 2017.

Recall that during 2018 Odesa region visited 6.2 million tourists. The largest number of foreign guests came from Moldova, Israel, Romania, Byelorussia and Poland. In particular, at the initiative of the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov in 2018, the natural territories of the Kuyalnitsky estuary were declared a resort of state importance. In addition, a nomination request for the inclusion of the Ackerman Fortress in the UNESCO World Heritage List was also addressed.
