On the 33rd anniversary of those events there was a laying of flowers, in particular to the monument to the Odessa-Chernobyl victims. Together with the community, the vice-chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Vitaliy Svichinsky took part in the memorial events.

"Chernobyl is a symbol of courage of thousands of our countrymen. Risking their lives and health, consciously and silently, they gave our lives in nuclear hell for us. Time does not always heal wounds. He did not heal and the Chernobyl wounds, did not erase in memory heavy and heroic events, the names of courageous volunteers. Losing experience and fear, under conditions unknown at that time of danger, liquidators have become an outpost of human courage and will forever remain in our memory ", - said Vitaliy Svichinsky.

It should be noted that 6 thousand 886 people in the Odessa region suffered from the Chernobyl catastrophe, of which 3 thousand 525 people were liquidators.

This is the most man-made disaster in the history of mankind, which has changed not only the environment, but also the fate of people.

Recall that on April 26, 1986, a powerful explosion occurred on the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. After the explosion and fire, a radioactive cloud formed, covering not only the territory of modern Ukraine, but also the territories of many European countries.
