Social Policy Minister Sokolovska Yuliia paid a working visit to Odesa region. She paid special attention to child care facilities.

"Our goal is that every child should be brought up in a family or in a family-centered form of education. Since 2020, there has been an increase in payments to orphans and children deprived of parental care located in orphanages and foster carers' families, and from 2 to 2.5 living wages.

In absolute terms, this is an increase in payments of at least UAH 1100 per month. In the case of children with disabilities, the increase was from 2 to 3.5 subsistence wages, which is equal to almost 3 thousand UAH per month, ”Yuliia Sokolovska said.

In 2020, the Government also increased the amount of financial support for foster parents and caregivers from 70 to 100% of the subsistence level. In monetary terms, this is an additional UAH 630 per month.

"We remember that in Khrushchev's time, boarding schools were considered a boon to save society from orphanage. Yes, 50 years have passed and we see that this is not true at all. Boarding is not a place for a child. And we must take all measures to gradually reduce the number of boarding schools and bring up the children in conditions close to family ones, ”said Vitalii Svichynskyi, Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

At the same time, Vitalii Svichynskyi called the priority tasks of creating child protection systems in the united territorial communities, training the staff for these systems and involving the local public in the protection of children's rights in the Odesa region.
