Maxim Stepanov: We aim to cover the entire Odessa region with telemedicine

By 2020, telemedicine will be introduced in all districts of the Odessa region. The system allows round-the-clock online consultation with leading regional center doctors to diagnose and prescribe treatment. The head of the Regional State Administration Maxim Stepanov told journalists during a live broadcast.

"We follow the principle - from distant areas to the center. At the end of last year, on the example of one district, we launched a single system - rural medicine in conjunction with telemedicine. During the first quarter, we have already seen results. I can assert that they directly affect the health of people. At the moment, another district has been connected to the south, and the majority will be hooked up next year. Our goal is to reach the whole region with telemedicine, "said Maxim Stepanov, the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration.

Emergency departments along with telemedicine are currently working successfully in the Oknyansky and Bolgrad central rayon hospitals. Also, the head of the area stressed that all areas are connected to the Unified Operational Dispatch Service.

In addition, the government plans to provide 922.5 million hryvnias for the reform of emergency medicine in the state budget for 2019. The pilot project of reform will be implemented in 5 pilot oblasts, including Odessa. The funds will be used to purchase sanitary transport, train instructors, and increase salaries for physicians who have undergone training.

In addition to financing pilot projects for reform, in general in the state budget-2019 it is planned to invest 6 billion UAH. for emergency help. In particular, within the Odesa region it is necessary to buy 123 cars for the "fast" and to create a network of 25 departments of emergency medical aid.

Recall that the improvement of the quality of medical services in the Odessa region is one of the priorities of the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan of the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov "Intelligent Region" for 2017-2019. Thus, the Odessa region was the first in the country to launch the "Rural Medicine" reform. The relevant law was signed by President Poroshenko during a working trip to the region on December 27, 2018.
