Maksym Kutsyi: "we have confirmation of suspicion of coronavirus infection in a resident of Odesa region"

The head of the Odesa regional state administration Maksym Kutsyi has confirmed the suspicion of a coronavirus infection in a resident of the Odesa region. A positive result for the detection of the COVID-19 virus was obtained at the Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

"This is a 1995 man of birth who currently lives in the city of Odesa and recently came from the United States. After arriving and finding symptoms, he went to the Odesa City Infectious Disease Hospital. There he was taken all the tests - for influenza, SARS and COVID-19. Flu and SARS tests tested negative. Further, according to the protocol, the test material of the patient was sent to the reference laboratory in Kiev, where today confirmed the presence of the COVID-19 virus, "- said Maksym Kutsyi.

According to specialists of the Odesa infectious hospital, on March 14, 2020, the patient left the ward, signing a self-isolation document. In a statement, he stresses the firm desire to leave the hospital and recognizes all the risks of violating the rules of self-isolation within 14 days. The patient assumed all responsibility for the consequences and left unauthorized.

Currently, the document is available at the hospital and law enforcement.

The police are contacted by the man to confirm self-isolation and to establish contact points.

The head of the Odesa RSA also stressed the need for strict quarantine.
