In the RSA the meeting of the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov with the Ambassador of the EU to Ukraine Higuom Mingarelli took place. The parties discussed plans for expanding co-operation between the Odesa region and the EU countries within the framework of the implementation of small and medium business support programs.

"The European Union is the main external partner for the Odessa region. If you look at the figures, then only in January-April exports from the Odessa region to the EU reached more than 152 million dollars. In the Odessa region there are small and medium business support programs, in particular, it relates to cheaper credit rates. I believe that we must expand or combine the programs that exist within the framework of EU-Ukraine cooperation with those currently being implemented in the Odessa region, "Maxim Stepanov emphasized.

In turn, the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hug Mingarelli demonstrated his solidarity with the reforms taking place in Ukraine, and noted that the office mobilizes all the instruments to provide maximum support in their successful implementation, especially in the area of rule of law.

"Of course, we are focusing on small and medium-sized businesses. Already in 15 regions of Ukraine, including in Odessa, we have created business support centers that exist to provide recommendations, training and easier access to loans for small and medium-sized businesses. We work closely with government agencies to improve the business environment in the region. Of course, one of the tools to make progress in this matter is to uphold the rule of law, "said Hug Mingarelli.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the processes of decentralization in the Odessa region and cultural exchange programs.
